Hip Dysplasia

Spine

  • ANSWER:

No. There is no evidence that infant carriers cause a child’s spine to develop improperly. Rumors swirl online about spine development and carriers, but soft structured carriers are designed to hold your baby’s hips, legs and spine in the same position as when you carry your baby upright in your arms. To ensure proper spine development, it is important to provide opportunities for your baby to move his/her limbs throughout the day. Infants should not be kept in the same position all day, and should experience different positions, for example tummy time, held by a parent, sleeping in a bed and/or carried in a front carrier.
